Who we are:
The local church is not a building. We are an assembly of believers in Jesus Christ. The Bible says you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. After that, God wants us to tell others and grow in His Word. We want to help you grow. Check out our beliefs for more info.
Where we come from:
Dr. D. M. Hardison started Tidewater Baptist Church (then Tidewater Baptist Temple) on April 3rd, 1966, with a group of 72 meeting in a local school building. In 1977, Paul Hawkins became Senior Pastor and (in 1979) moved our location to its present one. Now over 58 years later we are thankful for God’s leading and his obedience.
Where we’re headed:
You love your children and we do too. The Bible shows that it only takes one generation walking away from God to cause the next generation to deny God. We strive to have both our adults and youth grow in a close relationship with Jesus.
